WTF Microsoft February 22, 2010 Tigh L. Leibel Why and the hell would you not tell the customer that this is not compatible with the new Microsoft Xbox upgrade. This does not work. Microsoft you suck period. I am very dissatisfied with this memory unit.
Works just fine. January 30, 2010 Ghost30 (Tennessee) I bought this memory card last night to transfer some files from one hard drive to the other, and it worked just fine. I had no problems at all. I don't understand the other reviews, saying that it doesn't work.
DO NOT BUY - DOES NOT WORK - MIGHT AS WELL BURN YOUR MONEY January 13, 2010 K. Lundquist (GA) I purchased this on 11/9 from ANTonline, as a gift for someone. I received it on 11/18. On 12/19 the person I purchased it for tried to use it, and the XBox wouldn't recognize the memory unit. I immediately contacted ANTonline via email, and received an automated e-mail stating that they received my message, and would get back to me. The e-mail also instructed me to check their FAQ page. As of 12/30 I did not get a response, so e-mailed again. This time I received an email (almost immediately) from ANTonline stating that since the 30 day return period had passed, I was out of luck. I tried disputing this via the Amazon "A-Z Guarantee" but it was denied because
" The Amazon.com A-to-z Guarantee refund policy only covers:
1) When the buyer provided payment to the seller, but the seller failed to deliver the item.
2) When the buyer received the item, but the item was materially different than as depicted in the seller's description.
We determined that you are not eligible for an A-to-z Guarantee claim as you did not contact the seller within 14 days of receipt to report the issue or return the item within 30 days of shipment. "
Ok, so let me get this straight. This seller sold this to me KNOWING I would have issues with this (see negative feedback from multiple buyers back in Oct. which I did not see when I purchased this) and still sold it to me. Yeah, I contacted him ONE DAY after the 30 day return period, but this was a freaking gift! I could understand if I ordered the wrong color or something. but the thing does not work! WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY!
As of now, does not work, but stay tuned... January 10, 2010 Jonathan Mettin (Philadelphia, PA USA) Before the latest dashboard update, this was a great third-party memory card, offering four times the storage of the Microsoft card at the same price, and upgradeable to a whopping 16GB, 32 times more than the 512MB the Microsoft card touts. Its PC-end aspect was clunky at best, but offered a decent backup option.
However, the fall update to the Xbox 360 dashboard has locked out the memory card from being used. Although I have not contacted DAtel personally (as another reviewer has), they have posted a letter saying they are working on an updated card that will bypass the lockout, and current owners will be able to exchange this card for one of those. The letter reads in part:
"...Datel are aware of the changes that are required to remedy this problem and will shortly release a solution in readiness for this potential update. This will be made available to you and your retail / domestic customers shortly. In the meantime if you are holding any stock of this product you can, if you wish, return this to us and we will exchange / replace with new updated versions in readiness for the Microsoft Dashboard release.
These high capacity memory units were released in May 2009 and have continued to function well to date. These potential problems are entirely due to the actions of Microsoft and are beyond our control..."
Also, Datel launched a lawsuit around Thanksgiving against Microsoft claiming it is limiting consumer choice. If you search online you can find the filing fairly easily (unfortunately, the link will not translate correctly into an Amazon review, so I can't post it here).
As good a buy as this was at the time, avoid getting this memory card until there's a resolution to this mess.
Datel is working on fix for update problem November 23, 2009 eightysicks86 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just learned of this news today. I wondered why my games stopped prompting me to choose a storage device, as it always did prior to the update. This really sucks!
First thing I thought of is that it would probably only take a firmware update from Datel to remedy this. It seems they are currently working on an update. Screw you Microsoft! Make your accessories more comparable to these third party options and you wouldn't have this problem.
UPDATE 12-4-09
Datel Informed me to mail in my max memory card and they will mail it back to me when they fix this problem. They have been very responsive through email. they are aware of the problem and are working on a hardware fix. (Sorry, no user-end firmware fix, i asked them) I encourage you to contact Datel through email. they allowed me to send mine in to them without a receipt.
