AWESOME!!! May 30, 2010 Pittsburgh Princess (Pittsburgh, PA USA) This product is one of the best accessories I have purchased for the Xbox. I love how lightweight the battery packs are, and how FAST they charge. You can charge one at a time, with different color indicators (red for not done, green for done) that glow from the actual battery pack themselves. You can also charge them attached to the controller, which is pretty cool. Doesn't take up a lot of space and now I'm not throwing money down the drain on batteries. I used to do energizer rechargeable batteries, and these are far superior. I only wished that they would cause the controller to blink before they die, because when they do and you are in the middle of a game, it seems very sudden. However, I had the same issue with the energizer rechargeable- they would constantly blink my controller for days before dying, and yet I still prefer the inductive charging ones. A gaming necessity!
Not Without Its Faults... May 12, 2010 M. Roberts (Baltimore, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off, this charging station does a lot of things right. It's very small and can conveniently be placed in some pretty small spaces. It charges the batteries relatively quickly, and the two different colored faceplates for the charging station are a nice touch (white and black to match different colored 360's).
There's a couple of problems though: The length of the charge on the rechargeable batteries leave something to be desired. Not a deal-breaker, but much less than you'd get with regular AA's.
A minor thing that annoys me also is that while the faceplate for the charging station can be changed either to white or black, the rechargeable battery packs themselves are white, and there's no changing that. This means that while the charging station itself can match an Xbox 360 Elite by switching to a black faceplate, the black controllers look a bit silly with the white rechargeable battery packs on them.
All and all though, a product that I don't regret buying as I still save on batteries.
Great Charger, working out very well! May 2, 2010 Mortal Kombat (Texas) This power base is great. I think I have already saved a bunch of money in disposable batteries. Very convenient, very easy to use, it just works! Love it.
Both Convenient and Inconvenient April 30, 2010 T. Coughlin (Boston, MA USA) As convenient as it is to have it be able to charge just by touching part of the pack, meaning it can be charged while you're playing, there is one major problem: It doesn't tell the system how much of a charge it has left, so you never get a warning that it's low on batteries.
You'll be playing a multiplayer game and, all of the sudden, the controller will just turn off, with no blinking ahead of time to warn you. Don't bother trying to turn it right back on. It won't work. It doesn't go dead until it's completely dead.
I now just have the second pack charged at all times so I can switch it in immediately, and I pretty much only use this controller for 1P games, but it's a pain.
Also, the charges don't seem to last too long. I don't know how long, and they will last days at a time with multiple hours per day, so it's not awful, but I think batteries last longer.
Cheap, charge doesn't hold long April 28, 2010 S. Dempsey (Wenatchee, WA United States) Good thing this piece was cheap and came with 2 battery packs. The charge for each batter only lasts about 4-5 hours of constant play.
The PROS:
* Cheap
* doesn't take up a bunch of space
* comes with 2 batteries
* neat party trick
the CONS:
* Batteries dont last.
* Box shows this thing glowing 'green' when charging (see this image: [...]. It actually glows blue (and a bit weak at that)
* Doesn't have a 'secure' enough indent to hold the controller.. slides around.
* No warning when battery is low-- I can't tell you how many times I had to switch controllers in the middle of a MW2 firefight.
* If you have any other color controller, pack doesn't match
Would I buy it again? Nope. I'd rather buy a nice pack of duracels from Costco.
